How often do you exercise? Or at least do you know how good your food is? We all know that death is inevitable. However, one can make sure to better the health by staying far away from bad habits which rapidly reduces your living years.
Here are some major things which you need to quit immediately:
Intake of a glass or two once in a while, won’t kill you but regular consumption of alcohol will lead to various types of cancers, liver damage, blood pressure, reduction in bone density and mental illness. It is better to stick to an average limit rather than drinking for the sake of getting drunk. According to the statistics, an average drunk driver drives 80 times before the first arrest. On an average every 53 minutes someone is killed in a drunk & drive accident.
There is no one or two in the case of smoking. The life span of smokers is at least 10 years shorter than that of non-smokers. Smoking is the leading cause of various types of cancers and heart diseases. By quitting this killer habit before the age of 40, one can reduce the chances of getting attacked by the deadly diseases by 90%. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), tobacco is killing around 6 million people every year, which includes nearly 600,000 deaths caused by second-hand smoking or passive smoking.
If you think that eating a burger occasionally will not harm, then you are 100% wrong. Junk foods like burgers, pizzas and more are high on sodium, which increases blood pressure and causes heart diseases. They are made up of bad fats, refined carbohydrates and are high in sugar level. Increase of fat and sugar in the body will lead to obesity and heart diseases. Instead of having junkies when hungry, depend on lot of greens. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grain products will keep you healthy.
Now don’t combine junk foods and poor diet in one. They both are way different. A poor diet is known for high in sodium, meat, fatty & fried food and sweetened beverages and are low in fruits, vegetables, essential vitamins, minerals and fibre. According to the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington, poor diet is known to be a bigger killer than tobacco and alcohol or both combined.
Screen exposure is definitely bad for your eyes, but can’t escape from it in this modern world. Studies have shown that sitting for 12 hours or more a day, can increase your risk of developing type-2 diabetes by 90%. Not just sitting in front of a television or computer, but driving to and back from work will also add up to the list. As much as possible avoid watching TV and spend time on any exercise or find a hobby or a sport. These will help to keep your brain young and stress free.
Stress does it work with dedication and concentration; it shows its impact on every part of your body. It is one of the biggest causes of stroke, insomnia, cancer, blood pressure and cardiac diseases. Yoga and meditation can help overcome stress, and, if the stress is getting too much to handle, it would be better to get professional help.
Lack of Sleep:
A Human body needs at least 6-8 hours of sleep and especially at night. So if you have any plans to give a company to midnight, then get out of that though and quit before it is too late. You need to sleep in order to rejuvenate and strengthen the body’s immune system – skipping sleep also impairs the functioning of your brain resulting in poor activities. Even simple calculations will seem harder with lack of sleep. Maintain a timetable which has at least 8 hours gap to sleep in night and follow it by hook or crook.
